Grams's Birthday
/Today is my grandmother is 88 years old.
Eight years ago, when it was her 80th birthday, she flew in for a long weekend and we had a big family birthday party to celebrate. As her present, my mom, my sister and I changed the lyrics to the song "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Frankie Valli to fit Grams and all the inside jokes we have about her.
It’s because I can find and recover this family footage from eight years ago — that I love what the internet can do. Being able to ‘bring back’ snippets of a good life is the reason I’m still here typing these words and blogging on this site. Therein the true value lies.
At the end of August, Grams was too crippled to continue living on her own in her Floridian condo, so she moved into my old room in my mother’s house. I think it’s been hard for her to give up her space and independence, and I’m always in awe of the elderly and what they have to endure.
Happy birthday, Grams! I hit the jackpot with you as my grandma. What luck!
