Top 10 Values
/It's summer 2021, but I found this post in my ‘drafts’ from 2018 and thought its premise worthwhile to revisit. This image above is of a VALUES EXERCISE created by Tiffany Han. She has you identify your top ten values and write them on these paper strips so you can then switch their order around prompted by the question: “Would I rather have ____ or blank ____?”
Identifying that COMMUNICATION is my top value was pretty mind-blowing. I have referenced this list ever since completing it, knowing that a lot of what is at the core of what I do is COMMUNICATION.
Looking at this list now - three years later - after settling into teaching and growing up a bit, I would change the order of the rest of the list, and maybe replace INNOVATION with another value, since I was so “invent the next best thing” focused when I originally made this list.
I think my new list would be…
COMMUNICATION
KINDNESS
GRACE
INTEGRITY
PEACE
OPTIMISM
RESOURCEFULNESS
DESIGN
DISCOVERY
CELEBRATION
I wonder in another three years, if this list will change again. // What are some values that would be on your list?
