MY BUCKET LIST // Fall'20 - PAINT PUMPKINS
/At the end of August, I talked about THE AUTUMN BUCKET LIST you see above. This past week my sister, Vanessa, and I kept our annual pumpkin painting tradition alive and spent and afternoon and evening at my mom’s getting it done!
WHY THE ITEM WAS ON MY LIST:
This feels the MOST pipe-dreamy on the list since I’m so busy during pumpkin-painting season because of school. Hopefully my sister and I can find some time to do this, or perhaps I can turn it into an art activity with the kids somehow.
MY REFLECTION ON IT:
I’m glad sister and I were able to make this happen. I have been SOOO busy now that’s school is in full swing, and sister and I had a big fight the week before, so I wasn’t in the mood to hang around her. A good plan was to paint the pumpkins at mom’s house, with mom and Grams around, and have an all around fun ladies night. My sister and I are so relaxed when we paint pumpkins, so it was the perfect activity to smooth things over between us.
…and that’s how my pumpkins came out! I was inspired to paint some sassy self-care pumpkins because I feel like we ALL could use a day at the spa. …and a little chuckle when we can squeeze it. With each new detail I added on the pumpkins, a little giggle would come out — from me, from sister, from mom and grams too.
I’ve talked about this before, but it amazes me every single time we sit down to paint pumpkins together…that the same thing always happens: she paints one pumpkin in complex detail, and I bang out a bunch of pumpkins with ease and simplicity. It’s who we are, and it’s great. This year was no different.
Also, the warts on this pumpkin gave me such a delight.
Yeah, sister made a zombie eyeball pumpkin this year. It was really friggin’ awesome. Also awesome was the shrimp scampi dinner we got to have with mom and Grams afterward. I love my family so much, and am so grateful for this season of life. // xo
